Following months of anticipation, the luxury First Bay Coolum development officially launched today.

Sales Agent Todd McKee of McGrath Estate Agents said more than 180 expressions of interest had been lodged in recent weeks, with prospective buyers eager to get a glimpse of the architecturally designed building plans.

"From the moment whispers about this project began circulating, the level of enquiry has been overwhelming and we are excited to now unveil what First Bay Coolum will offer those who call it home," Mr McKee said.

"There's no doubt many Sunshine Coast residents feel a deep connection to First Bay, whether it's childhood memories of the sandy beach and rock pools, learning to surf on the consistent surf break or enjoying the natural amphitheater for sundowners or whale watching."

"Over the past weeks we've had many potential buyers share their memories of First Bay with us and it's evident that those looking to buy in the development have been waiting for an opportunity such as this for a long time."

North Shore Realty Property Sales Consultant Kerry Glover said it had been a long time since a new, luxury apartment complex had become available in Coolum Beach.

"Our last high-end apartment complex was Ikon at Point Arkwright some 10 years ago, with apartments selling from anywhere between $1.2 million to $3.5 million for the penthouse," Ms Glover said.

"Element on Coolum Beach in the centre of town was also a popular offering back in 2003, so  it's high time a development of First Bay Coolum's calibre came along to service the $1 million-plus market."

Ms Glover said First Bay Coolum comprised of 24 house-sized apartments — averaging 200m² of living space including expansive balconies — all with high quality finishes, European appliances and double lock-up garages.

"In addition to being directly across the road from the beach and offering stunning ocean views, First Bay Coolum features a central pool area, gym and landscaped gardens," she said.

"The development affords a coastal lifestyle like no other, with residents able to walk across the road to the beach and take a 10-minute stroll along the timber boardwalk to Coolum Surf Club as well as the esplanade shopping and café precinct."

First Bay Coolum is being developed by Mel and Gill Luke who are well-known and respected local business people who are making their debut into the property market with this project after 30 successful years in retail on the Sunshine Coast.

"We are very excited to finally unveil First Bay Coolum especially as the project has been so well received by the market," Mr Luke said.

"We designed First Bay Coolum very much with the resident in mind and believe we have achieved apartments that are stylish yet unpretentious, luxurious yet comfortable and above all, are a place you would love to call home."

First Bay Coolum apartments are now selling with three-bedroom, three bathroom apartments starting from $870,000.
