POPULAR Noosa band The Claptomaniacs will perform a homage to guitar great Eric Clapton in a special Eric Clapton Experience show at Tewantin Noosa RSL on Saturday, December 9 from 8pm.
The five-piece band is already well-known for its mix of mainly US and UK classics including a swathe of Clapton material. But this three-hour show will delve further into Clapton’s 50-year career, featuring much of his work with Cream like Strange Brew and Crossroads, right through to his more recent solo compositions such as Tears in Heaven and Wonderful Tonight, also duets like Tearing Us Apart, and covers, like his version of Harrison’s While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Dylan’s Knocking on Heaven’s Door and JJ Cale material such as Call Me the Breeze. Other classics will include Sunshine of Your Love, Change the World, I Shot the Sheriff, Badge, White Room and many more, including the timeless Layla.
Long-time Clapton aficionado David Zuric features on guitar, while expert lead singer Kenny Gamble handles the vocals in timeless style. They are backed up by keyboard maestro Jonathan May, and the disciplined bass/drums rhythm duo of Jon Brown and Alan Lander.
If you haven’t heard the Claptomaniacs, they are one of the tightest sounds on the Coast, and an experience not to be missed. There is plenty to listen to – and plenty to dance to. So if you are a Clapton fan, book a table for dinner now to get a ringside seat on 5447 1766.
