Annual boutique guitar-driven festival Mojo Burning has just announced it's return for the fifth year in a row, dropping an April 14 rendezvous at the Hamilton Hotel in Brisbane.

With a history of some pretty wild events, Mojo Burning has always aimed to bring together the cream of Australian independent Blues, Roots, Rock and Stoner Rock each year, providing a positive cultural force for genre acts who independently and without mainstream help achieve success through working hard, touring hard and playing hard.  The event has hosted such legends as Gay Paris, Hobo Magic, Born Lion, Jackson Firebird, Lachy Doley, Frank Sultana & the Sinister Kids and more and moved over the last 2 years of the festival to import US acts with the addition of Nick Oliveri (QOTSA/Kyuss) and Bob Log III amongst others.

Bands will play seamlessly over 3 stages from 2pm on Saturday April 14 with the introduction of a Psych/Stoner room matched with venue-wide visuals, live art installations, VIP lounge and more.  EARLY BIRD TICKETS ARE ONSALE NOW through Oztix at just $30+bf for what is most definitely one of the most fun days on the Australian boutique festival calendar.

Mojo Burning has also added a pre-event band competition this year with the aim of helping two up-and-coming acts secure a slot on the bill as well as a fistful of cash and prizes.  Band comp heats will take place all through February in Brisbane at the Prince of Wales Hotel and March on the Gold Coast at the Parkwood Tavern.  BAND COMP APPLICATIONS and full fest applications and details at  Bands can also directly apply for just the festival itself.  Slots are filling up fast, get in now!

Fest organiser Christian Tryhorn of Beats Cartel says of the Burn "It's pretty cool to be looking down the barrel of our 5th Mojo Burning.  What started as a ploy to unite the underground touring band scene has turned into its own beast with crowds growing with each instalment.  We've added a band comp this year, a dedicated Psych/Stoner space and are in chats with a bunch of headliners to make this our biggest Burn yet.  It's my favourite day of the year outside of Xmas, come get amongst it with us!"
