The Queensland legal community today mourns the loss of former District Court Chief Judge Pat Shanahan.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie MP said Judge Shanahan had enjoyed a distinguished career spanning 50 years and was a highly-regarded member of the legal profession.

“Although Judge Shanahan retired more than 10 years ago, he was still very active in the legal community and his presence will be deeply missed,” Mr Bleijie said.

“Judge Shanahan was a District Court judge for 26 years and has left behind a considerable legacy of judicial work.

“The Government extends its condolences to his wife and children at this sad time.”
