Homebuyers at Aura on the Sunshine Coast are already finding more than just their dream home in the award-winning Stockland community, with employment opportunities now providing the chance to work just a short stroll from their front door.

The delivery of the first school in the community is not only offering innovative new learning avenues for local children but also prime job opportunities which allow residents to live, work and play without having to jump in the car.

Adrian Allen, Aura Project Director for Stockland, said the masterplanned community was designed to be a world leader in sustainability while providing a variety of employment opportunities within walking or biking distance from homes.

“It’s fantastic to see the live, work and play ideology already benefiting homeowners within Aura as this philosophy was paramount to the city’s design,” Mr Allen said.

“Construction has also started on the Business Park and upon completion, Aura is forecast to create 20,000 jobs by 2040.”

For Ryan McIntyre, Aura will not only provide a home for him and his family but a place to further his career at the new Baringa State Primary School.

The primary school teacher had already decided to purchase in the first suburb of Baringa before the opportunity to work close to home presented itself.

“Shortly after we purchased our new block I saw a position come up at Baringa State Primary School, so I quickly applied for it and from there everything just fell into place,” Mr McIntyre said.

“Construction will start on our new home early next year and soon I will be just a 15 minute walk from work, which is just fantastic.

“It will also save us money on the fuel bill and ensure a great work/life balance.”

Mr McIntyre’s sister has also bought a home at Baringa, near the popular Pedal Park, and moved into the community last year.

“It’s so wonderful to be close to my sister, my work and everything Aura has to offer,” Mr McIntyre said.

“My son is already in love with the playgrounds and particularly Pedal Park where he gets to ride his scooter.”
Mr McIntyre said he was thrilled to join the team at Baringa State Primary School, which will open its doors in January to become the Sunshine Coast’s first school to have a strong Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focus.

The school will eventually educate up to 1,100 students in 37 classrooms configured over two storeys, and is expected to employ more than 80 full time and part time staff.

It will include a robotics laboratory, recording studio and innovation hubs, with a commitment to a futuristic approach to learning and STEM subjects.

Mr Allen said the innovative learning hub would set a new standard for the future of education in Queensland.

Under a collaborative agreement between Stockland, Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland Government, the co-shared facilities will also be available for use by the entire community outside of school hours.

“The school has been designed to be the heart of Baringa, located on the main street and adjoining a future town centre, cafes, childcare centre and community facilities,” Mr Allen said.

“Students will be able to use the recently completed veloway to ride their bikes safely to school or walk along the network of pedestrian paths that have been created to connect the community.”
