For 25 years, Sandy has lived, worked and raised her three children in the Noosa community, living variously at Kin Kin, Cooroy, Forest Acres and now Cooroibah with her partner, four times world lawn bowls champion, Ian ‘Shoey’ Schuback OAM.
In 2014, Sandy was the only female councillor elected to the newly de-amalgamated Noosa Council. In 2016, she contested and narrowly missed victory in the mayoral election.
Sandy is now project manager for the disability service provider Sunshine Butterflies and also a founding member of Innovate Noosa, director of the four local Bendigo community banks in the region and Community Advisory Council member for the Sunshine Coast Primary Health Network.
“Noosa needs a Member of Parliament who is directly answerable to the people of Noosa, not to a political party,” she says.
“After the Queensland election of Saturday 25 November, it seems no party will have a clear majority in parliament. In this context, independent members like me will have the opportunity to exercise real influence.
“I will use my position to negotiate good outcomes to Noosa’s infrastructure problems and throw my weight behind positive initiatives to improve a place we all care about so much.”
