FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What do enjoy most about the Sunshine Coast Lifestyle?
I like to spend my down time enjoying the great outdoors of our region, our beaches, parks, and hinterland. Hosting friends and family events, going out to local venues to experience the live music, various foods, great company. The monthly ‘Nights on Ocean’ are a favourite for myself and my friends. We enjoy the vibrant community atmosphere and the wide variety of food and activities on offer.

Why did you become involved in politics?
The birth of my daughter was the catalyst for my active involvement in politics. Seeing the unfolding refugee saga playing out in our federal politics illustrated to me that we need more compassionate leaders if my daughter is to enjoy a life better than my generation or those before me.

What challenge has most shaped your approach to life?
After a severe case of Glandular Fever in high school I began to suffer from chronic anxiety which compelled me from my own struggle to understand that everybody has their own struggles and challenges which shape their actions and opinions. So it helped me to realise that we need to be accepting and supportive of others and that only through compassion and space to grow can we all achieve greatness.

What values do you live by?
Living wholeheartedly and with integrity by embracing my strengths and admitting to my mistakes and weaknesses. Having compassion and acceptance and acknowledging that we are all different with our own challenges in life.

What is your favourite movie/book that inspires you?
The Rocky movies are inspirational to me as they illustrate the struggles that many of us have, rich or poor, white or of colour, we all have human struggles and when we are given the opportunity to grow as people we can achieve greatness.
