Music lovers are in for a treat when the Sunshine Coast Concert Band present a “Classical Cupcakes 2” concert at St Mark’s Anglican church, Main St., Buderim, on Sunday 21st August, starting at 2pm.
The Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem have organized this concert to raise funds for the “Hear and Say” centre in Nambour, and as the name suggests will serve a second helping of a home-made afternoon tea of delicious cupcakes.
The SCCB will provide 2 hours of musical morsels that are known and loved!
Under the baton of Music Director Ken Chadwick OAM, this band of approximately 40 professional and amateur players will excel playing tunes by Rimsky Korsakov, Mascagni, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Grainger, Rossini, and Offenbach.
Of special appeal will be Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, featuring the superb playing of maestro Charlie Simm. Also, the Leroy Anderson "Bugler's Holiday", will be played at an incredibly fast pace by the Wynyard family of Todd, Angelique and their 14 year old son Josh.
Singers Bev Gourlay and Aart Schouten will add to the classical themes with songs such as “Bless this house” and “The Holy City”, as well as “My heart will go on” (Titanic theme) , “Stranger in Paradise” (from Kismet) and John Denver’s “Perhaps Love”.
This is an exciting programme, and should not be missed!
Since seats are limited, tickets for $15 can be pre-booked at 104.9 Sunshine Radio on 5450 1049, and collected at the door. If seats are still available, they will be $20 or $15 concession, at the door.
Note that the proceeds of this concert will be directed to the most worthy local cause of the “Hear and Say” centre.
