The Sunshine Coast Concert Band will again feature at the annual LEGACY Remembrance Day Concert, at the Baptist Community Centre, Wises Rd., starting at 2pm on SATURDAY 5th November.
The theme this year is VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC , and tunes will include a "South Pacific" medley of songs, and notably the Army, Navy and AirForce theme songs.
Selections will be played from the Big Band era of Swing and Jazz, along with sentimental favourites and war time songs, accompanied by power point presentations of vintage footage.
Of special interest will be a vocal and instrumental presentation of the "Captives' Hymn" which was written by Margaret Dryburgh, and sung by the women held in captivity on the island of Sumatra in 1942.
Ken Chadwick OAM is the Music Director of this talented band, and the audience will be invited to singalong with singers Bev Gourlay and Aart Schouten.
There will also be a pre-concert musical performance by students from Maroochydore State High School.
Tickets are $15 (which includes a sumptuous afternoon tea), and are available from any S.C. Westpac Branch, or by phoning 5493 5098. Tickets are also available at the door.
This concert is organised by the S.C. Legacy group, and all proceeds will be directed to their local support activites.
