Dazzling Entertainers to Rock Sunshine Coast Show

Popular performers Mental As Anything and Troy Cassar-Daley will be headline acts at this year's Sunshine Coast Show in June, with Mental As Anything playing on Thursday night, and Troy Cassar-Daley appearing on Friday night.

Securing these quality performers is a coup for show organisers and they are confident that the caliber of the musicians will attract large crowds on both nights.

Formed on whim by a group of bored art students in search of free drinks, Australia's prankish Mental as Anything went on to forge a career spanning across several decades, their tongues firmly planted in cheek throughout.  Mental as Anything achieved great success in the '80s and beyond, keeping their original line-up of Reg Mombasa (singer/guitarist), Peter O'Doherty (bass), Martin Plaza (lead guitarist), Andrew "Greedy" Smith (keyboardist), and Wayne Delisle (drummer).

Mental as Anything had much chart success, particularly in the '80s, including a top five hit in Europe and UK with the smash single, "Live It Up".  They have a reputation as a fabulous live band, and count Elvis Costello and Elton John in their large fan base.

Star of the Australian Country Music scene, Troy Cassar-Daley, has won almost every award there is, including, 'Best Country Album', 'Best Male Vocal', 'Entertainer of the Year' , 'Best Video' and an ARIA for Best Country Record.

Music bible, Rolling Stone magazine summed it up perfectly, gushing that Troy is quite simply, "quintessentially Australian while echoing the style of Bruce Springsteen; he wonderfully evokes vivid images of country life and love."

Mental As Anything will perform on Thursday  14 June from ? pm, and Troy Cassar-Daley will perform on Friday 15 June from ? pm.

Sunshine Coast Show tickets are being sold at Heritage Building Society branches, buyers pre-purchasing at Heritage will save money, as these tickets will be sold at last year's prices.

ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL

Along with side-show alley, many visitors to the Sunshine Coast Show, find the animals a star attraction.  From the large animals such as horses and cattle, to the bucking bulls at the Saturday night rodeo, the graceful alpacas, unusual roosters and chickens, right down to the tiny mouse circus - there is something from the animal kingdom for everyone.

People of all ages, and especially children, love to observe animals of different shapes and sizes on display at the showgrounds each year.  A particularly popular animal is the alpaca; with some of the finest examples in Australia on display from award-winning local breeders.

Breeders such as Graeme & Cristin Smith of Ilkley, and Jeff & Sue Willis of Palmwoods, have been exhibiting at the Sunshine Coast Show for several years, with great success.

Recently, the Smiths won a swag of awards at the very competitive Royal Sydney Show, and are looking forward to exhibiting at their local show, the Sunshine Coast Show in June.

There are two types of Alpacas on display, the suri, which has shaggy, dreadlocky type fleece, and the huacaya which has a cuddly, tighter curly fleece.  Both breeds will be on display at the popular alpaca section at the show, with their versatile fleece being exhibited also.   There will be lots of information at hand for people who are interested in learning more about these wonderful creatures.

Little children will be amazed by the very cute Mouse Circus which will be making an appearance for the first time at the Sunshine Coast Show.  This is absolutely amazing, and not to be missed, you'll find it in the new children's activity area on Badminton Hill.

For good old-fashioned thrill-seekers there is a rodeo on Saturday night, as the grand finale to three action-packed days at the show concludes.
