On Sunday, October 14, get the family together and head to Bankfoot House in the Glass House Mountains for a fabulous 150th anniversary celebration event.

Bankfoot House, the oldest surviving residence in the Glass House Mountains, was founded in 1868 by pioneers William and Mary Grigor and established as the lunch stop and staging post for the Cobb & Co route from Brisbane to the Gympie goldfields, it also served as the post office, accommodation house and supply store.

Today, it is a state heritage-listed property with a house museum and an extensive collection that tells the story of the three generations that occupied the house for more than 130 years, and the pioneering spirit of all those who lived in and visited the region during that time.

Throughout 2018 council and the local community have been reminiscing about days gone by and paying tribute to our local history as a part of the 150th anniversary, with events held in April, June and August celebrating the local Indigenous culture, pioneering and Cobb & Co.

From 10am – 3pm on October 14, Bankfoot House will come back to life with live music, vintage cars, old fashioned games, a Cobb & Co stagecoach display and indigenous performances.
