Fierce competition for 2010 Sunshine Coast Excellence in Business Awards
A record 130 finalists are vying for one of 14 business category awards to be presented at the 16th Sunshine Coast Excellence in Business Awards on November 6, 2010. The award presentation ceremony, to be held at the Innovation Centre, University of the Sunshine Coast, has a 'wild jungle' theme this year and fittingly, the competition is fierce!
Myles McNamara, President of the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce (whose organisation runs the awards on behalf of the Sunshine Coast region) said that over 400 business and individuals had nominated for this year's awards.
"The record number of nominations and finalists is really gratifying in that it indicates there is a high level of business confidence on the Sunshine Coast.
"The judges have been astounded at the level of professionalism, innovation and good, old fashioned service that businesses are delivering."
Mr McNamara said that the judges were currently comparing their final notes regarding the result of each business's written submission, management practices, onsite interview, mystery shop and reference checks in order to arrive at the list of winners over the next few weeks.
"From there, we will all have to wait patiently for the announcement of the winner's names at the gala awards ceremony on November 6.
"As well as acknowledging each business's success it's going to be a really fun night."
Councillor Lew Brennan, Sunshine Coast Council's Chair of Economic Development and Entrepreneurship said that each of the 130 finalists should be extremely proud of their finalist status and encouraged all businesses to attend the awards presentation ceremony.
"The Sunshine Coast Excellence in Business Awards represents the top echelon of business movers and shakers in the region.
"The award ceremony provides a great networking opportunity and the chance to support the outstanding efforts of local businesses," Cr Brennan said.
