Bringing committed Sunshine Coast producers and growers into Eumundi's village atmosphere, this special annual Food Fest includes a Farmer's Market, showcasing the sub tropical, the unusual and unique local foods and produce. Stalls include locally grown and processed coffee, red claw crayfish, organic fruits and vegetables, bush tucker products and finger foods, curry pastes, spice blends, jams and condiments, fresh strawberries and cream, macadamia nuts and cheeses to name a few.
Food to Go provides a great variety of takeaway foodies' delights. Tapas style allows you to experience multiple tastes. Design your own picnic. Sit, relax and listen to local musicians while sipping a quality Sunshine Coast wine.
The Tucker Tent will feature cooking demonstrations including a Cook Off Challenge with chef against chef, each will be given the same local products to create a dish on the spot against the clock and the audience will judge the winners.
The literary arts also have an important role in the 2007 Eumundi Food Fest. The multi-award winning bush poet and entertainer, Wally (The Bear) Finch) will amuse between events on the Tucker Tent stage. As part of the Writers, Artists and Readers Month (WARM), local author Petra Frieser, the author of "Ginger: the flavours and the flowers" will be available to discuss her new book and sell signed copies.
Food presentations, demonstrations, buskers, an apron art exhibition, classic cars and musical entertainment will add to the lively ambiance.
An impressive gathering of sparkling classic motor vehicles will be hosted by the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club. Situated right in the middle of the festival, their "Show and Shine" display will provide scores of delicious cars to drool over.
The unusual Provincial Spirit Apron Exhibiton has returned home. Having started in Maroochy Shire, this exhibition has grown as it travelled around the world, each host country adding their own unique contribution. The "aprons" carry cultural and personal messages and symbolically tie the cultures together. The Apron art works will be displayed in Eats Restaurant in Eumundi and local Maroochy artist, Karen Wockner, will curate the exhibition, with a number of local artists being asked to add to the exhibition - an opening ceremony will be held on Thursday 7th June and it will run until Thursday 21st June.
Children are not forgotten at the Eumundi Food Fest and if you have a passion for all things cupcake join Sue Tickner at her Cup Cake Cuisine stall where children and the young at heart can decorate their very own cupcake or two and then eat them of course! There will also be a variety of rides and face painting.
