The 2007 Immanuel Arts Festival will be held from Thursday 24 May to Sunday 27 May at the Immanuel College Stadium Gallery on Wises Road Buderim.
The 26th annual Festival will feature Paintings, Sculpture, Ceramics, Jewellery and Student Art. This year's Artist in Focus Marie Jose van Beers is well known for her work in portrait, landscape and abstract paintings as well as her sculptures in clay.
This year's festival will have three Artists in Residence. Jim Svensson, a well known and respected sculptor in the community and has pieces that range from semi-representational to abstract in form. Mandy Shadforth, a local based artist of fine art has been influenced by her passion of Mother Nature and a life by the ocean. Gaye Cook works in pastel and has a wonderful feel for the texture, this combined with pastel lends itself to the layering of colour, creating a three dimensional feel to her work.
The Festival will be officially opened by the recently appointed headmaster of Immanuel College, Doctor Murray Evans, at the Opening Night on Thursday evening 24 May from 7:30pm. Selected boutique wines will be showcased by Tanunda Cellars; hospitality students of the college will prepare and serve delicious finger food, while music students from the Immanuel College Strings and Ensemble will set the mood for a wonderful festival evening.
Opening hours on Friday and Saturday are 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, with Smashing Things student workshop on Saturday.
