THE TOYOTA NATIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC MUSTER, the most spectacular celebration of music in the country, epitomises the true spirit of Country Australia.

Muster 2007 bigger than ever

Annually presenting a huge program rich with our country's finest musicians, the Toyota Muster is held over six magical days and unforgettable nights among the towering gums of Amamoor Creek State Forest Park. It's a phenomenal experience that celebrates the spirit of country Australia, an experience rooted in music and community, far removed from ties and clocks, suits and schedules.

Over the years, the growth of the Toyota Muster has enabled the entertainment line up to diversify into an exciting mix of musical genres while still maintaining its strong country focus  - 170 shows total over 227 hours of pure country! As well as traditional and modern country, entertainment within 13 other stages and venues includes an aural collage ranging from folk, bluegrass, balladeers and gospel, to blues, bush poetry, clogging, linedancing, swing and rock 'n roll ... and the serious competition of the Maton Talent Search where future careers are established. Artists confirmed to date for the 2007 Toyota Muster include Lee Kernaghan, Melinda Schneider, Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole, Graeme Connors, Gina Jeffreys, Topp Twins, Carter & Carter, James Blundell, Donna Boyd, Laura Downing, Peter Pratt, Jonah's Road, Paul Costa, Eric Bogle, The Black Sorrows and Vika & Linda Bull with many more to come. Muster Coordinator Brian Sansom added "At the end of the day there will be over a hundred recording acts presented throughout the six day event so by the time the full program is released there will be entertainment surprises to suit all music lovers."  And to top all this, we have a new attraction - "Grease", the world's No.1 greatest musical and the perfect feel-good family show, comes to the Muster with all those unforgettable hit songs including You're The One That I Want, Grease Is The Word, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Sandy and Greased Lightnin', performed by the fabulous Zodiac Players.

But it's not only the spectacular entertainment that attracts thousands of patrons each year to this great event - it's the phenomenal atmosphere, the bushland setting laced with inviting whiffs of campfire cooking and fresh bush eucalypt, the easy camaraderie created by convivial patrons all set to simply enjoy themselves... "there are no strangers at the Muster, just friends you haven't met yet."

The Muster's picturesque forest site becomes a mini-city every August, with a general store, plenty of food and bar outlets, phones, EFTPOS and other essential services. Well maintained campgrounds are within easy walking distance to the entertainment precinct. If bringing your own tent is a "chore" take advantage of the on-site accommodation already set up for you, with a number of packages, including Banjo's, Banjo's Gold and Budget, being available. The site, 2 hours drive north of Brisbane, 40 minutes from Noosa and 1 hour from heritage listed Fraser Island, is easily accessible by large vehicles - just watch for meandering cows! Alternatively there is accommodation available within an hours drive both on the Sunshine Coast and the Cooloola Region.

Over 50 community groups and 2000 volunteers annually help the event organisers, Gympie Apex Club, to stage this non-profit community-based festival to raise funds to assist charities Australia-wide. This phenomenal festival makes a difference - by giving something back to rural and regional Australia. Since it's inception in 1982, the Muster has raised over $10M for charities and the Muster's Rural Aid Appeal annually raises up to $100,000 for it's nominated charity.

The Rural Aid Appeal was initiated fifteen years ago to assist rural Australians who were suffering due to Australia's worst drought for decades. In 2007 the drought is back, but the suffering in many places is worse. This year, the Gympie Apex Club are calling for nominations from small community centres from around Australia to apply for assistance from the Rural Aid Appeal. Funds raised will be distributed between successful applicants, and a family nominated by each of these applicants will be invited as guests of the Toyota Muster to enjoy the event. The event's major sponsor, the Toyota Corporation, have added their support by contributing a new motor vehicle that will be given to one of the nominated communities to help out within their region. For further information check out the muster website or call the office.

The Muster & the community

Over 50 community groups and 2000 volunteers annually help the event organisers, Gympie Apex Club Inc, to stage this non-profit community-based festival to raise funds to assist charities Australia-wide. Since it's inception in 1982, the Muster has raised over $10M for charities and community groups. The Toyota Muster also raises funds through it's Rural Aid Appeal, annually raising up to $100,000 for it's nominated charity. Funds are raised through sales from a range of merchandise which includes CDs & DVDs, shirts, caps, leathergoods and Bundaberg Rum, Driza-Bone and XXXX merchandise.

This year, the event is calling for nominations from not-for-profit organisations whose community is drought affected. Funds raised through the Appeal will be distributed between successful applicants. The event's major sponsor, Toyota, has added to their support by providing a new HiLux SR 4litre V6 manual petrol pickup, including air conditioning and on road costs. This vehicle will be awarded to the submission which, in the judging panel's opinion, best satisfies their criteria of a worthwhile community group or project. If you think your community organisation can benefit from the Rural Aid Appeal, apply for an application form by phone: 07 5482 2099, email info@muster.com.au or web www.muster.com.au/ruralaidappeal
