12 December 2007 Dates announced for 2008 music festival
Mark your calendars! The date for the second annual Caloundra Music Festival has been announced.
On the weekend of October 17-19 2008, Caloundra will host a huge line up of popular artists as part of the event which is expected to attract thousands to the City.
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said following the success of the inaugural event in October, the second annual Caloundra Music Festival looks set to make an even bigger impression.
"With over 5,200 patrons in its first year and all local accommodation houses completely booked out, the economic spin-offs of this event are huge, and only set to increase as word of the festival grows," Cr Aldous said.
"When you combine this with such positive feedback from the inaugural event, there's no doubt we're on to a sure thing," Cr Aldous said.
Cr Aldous said at least 25 percent of attendees at this year's event were from outside the Sunshine Coast region.
"This equates to extra dollars being spent on food, accommodation and other local businesses, " Cr Aldous said.
Furthermore, the event also generated healthy returns for local charities, with surf lifesaving, the SES and Scouts the beneficiaries of this year's profits.
The 2008 event will be officially launched at Kings Beach Tavern on Saturday 22 December, with a special performance by Lisa Hunt, one of this year's popular artists, who will also be performing at Carols on Kings the following night.
