The 2010 QJRU State Championships will be held on The Sunshine Coast at Stockland Park, Kawana, on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of September.
More than 1200 junior footballers will participate in the championships and the teams will represent age groups from U13 to U17, with teams playing approximately seven games over the three days of the competition.
The 2010 Championships will be a highlight for the players from Brisbane, Queensland regional areas and teams representing the Northern Territory and Victoria . Also, an under 16 team will travel from Papua New Guinea to make the event truly multicultural. The competition will be of a very high level and Sunshine Coast is again out to defend their title in the under 17 age group which they have won for the past two years.
The State Championships are an important talent identification opportunity for future selection of players in Queensland representative teams and squads, including the Country/City and State U15 and U17 teams. Now in the 30th year, the event has seen several Wallabies and Reds come through the State Championship pathway, including Peter Hynes, Ben Lucas, Will Genia and Quade Cooper.
Over 6000 people are expected to attend the State Championships each day.
