The greats of international golf will head to Palmer Resort Coolum for the 2012 Australian PGA Championship from December 13-16.
As the country’s best-ranked resort course, the famous fairways designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr will host the pick of the world’s star golfers for four days of elite competition - announcements are expected to be made soon.
The Australian PGA Championship has been held at Coolum since 2002, providing the stage for some of the most memorable clashes in Australian golfing history.
The event attracted golf’s top international stars in 2011, including Bubba Watson and Ricky Fowler from the USA, Darren Clarke from Ireland, Y E Yang and K T Kim from South Korea, and Liang Wen Chong from China who played alongside Australian favourites such as Greg Norman, Jason Day, Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy, Robert Allenby, John Senden and Craig Parry.
Formerly Hyatt Regency Coolum, Palmer Resort Coolum offers 6137m of challenging fairways set between Mount Coolum and the sandy shores of the Sunshine Coast. The par-72 course is supported by Australia’s leading golf education centre, offering under-cover tuition and the latest technology in biomechanic analysis.
The popular post-PGA golf days will also be offered, when public players can relive any day of the championship tournament by playing the same course set-up as the pros.
