Winning plays premiere at Noosa Festival
The 35th Annual One-Act Play Festival will hit the stage next month, at Noosa Arts Theatre, showcasing the 3 finalists chosen from 89 entries in the 2012 Noosa Arts Theatre National One-Act Playwriting Competition.
This is always one of the most popular productions on the annual coast theatre calendar, selling out very quickly.

The Boy in the Cardboard Box by Rainee Skinner
A funeral is about to take place in a suburban family home of Johnny, a flamboyant and beguiling actor most recently from Sydney. His body is in the house and is lying unseen in a cardboard coffin in the next room. The start time has been delayed and three of Johnny’s friends from different times of his life meet. They share stories and search for reasons why their friend drank himself to death. They are feeling angry and guilty and look for comfort and redemption. Much is revealed about Johnny.

Sisters, Amanda and Carolyn didn't expect to have much more than blinding headaches on the morning after their big night out on the town. But finding a passed out young man on their couch makes you ask the question...What the hell did you do last night? If only they could remember.

Three Angry Brides by Hugh O’Brien
Four days before three beautiful brides are due to be married at a picturesque church in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, they and their grooms are summoned to the church office. The regular minster has been taken ill and replaced by the feisty Reverend Bruce Hill, a knockabout minster with extreme views about marriage preparation. Reverend Hill has a strict policy. He will not marry any couples unless he first tries to split them up. Which if any of the couples will like each other enough to still want to get married after 30 minutes with the testy Reverend Hill?

These three new one-act plays will be performed each night and you the audience gets to vote for the Nancy Cato Audience Choice Award.
The winner of this year’s Best Play award will be announced after final performance on Saturday 16th June, where $3000 prize money donated by Macquarie Private Wealth will be presented to the winning playwright, along with the Audience Choice Award sponsored by Maverick Musicals and Plays.
