Slipper announces Fisher Seniors' Forum & Expo 2009

Member for Fisher Peter Slipper today announced that the 9th annual Fisher Seniors' Forum & Expo will be held at the Lake Kawana Community Centre on May 22.

In line with current economic conditions, the topic at the Forum this year will be "Managing the Challenges".

The format includes presentations from three guest speakers, followed by question time. Issues that will be discussed include financial matters - including superannuation and tax - and health.

"The issue of seniors being able to cope during difficult economic times and maintain their health and a positive outlook on life is vital," Mr Slipper said.

The Fisher Seniors' Forum and Expo was launched by Mr Slipper in 2001, with the purpose of providing senior residents of the Sunshine Coast with friendly and informal access to free information about issues that affect them. Over 300 senior residents are expected to attend the event.

The Seniors' Expo that will again accompany the Forum will this year feature over 20 exhibitors, each on hand to give helpful free advice on a range of products and services of interest to seniors.

"Each year the Fisher Seniors' Forum & Expo grows more and more popular as word spreads of the value and convenience of such information events," Mr Slipper says.

"Those who have attended past forums have commented that having so many exhibitors in the one location makes it easy to gather a range of information in the one afternoon -- it can save a lot of time."

The 2009 Fisher Seniors' Forum is FREE and will be held at Lake Kawana Community Centre on May 22, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Contact Peter Slipper's office on 5443 3555 before May 15 to confirm your place.
