The Queensland Pops Orchestra will launch its 2014 with a stunning array of Queensland artists and its fabulous Pops musicians. In the time honoured tradition of “Scotland the Brave” Patrick Pickett will lead the Pops returns in 2014 with their boldest Celtic Celebration ever.
“A Celtic Celebration” will feature Brisbane’s iconic Irish band Murphys Pigs in their debut appearance on the QPAC Concert Hall stage. Following on from their sensational appearance at the Tamworth Country Music Awards, where they were runner up in the battle of the bands and nomination for the Golden Fiddle award, the band will join with the Pops in some of the finest traditional Irish music.
The Queensland Police Pipes and Drums is without doubt one of Queensland’s most valued assets and they will bring amazing repertoire of well-known and exciting new Scottish music.
Kathleen Proctor-Moore is an internationally celebrated Celtic singer based in Queensland and currently holds No.1 and No.3 on the Australian Indie Radio Charts. Kathleen brings talent, humour and all things Scottish to this concert as she sings the songs we know and love.
The Watkins Academy of Irish Dance and Thistle Highland Dance studio will set the stage on fire with the swirl of their and their high leaping kicks.
