Local band, Twang have burst on to the Rockabilly scene with exuberance, excitement and ability that is literally sweeping people off their feet. Though relatively fresh and new Twang has a rich Rockabilly pedigree with their line-up.
Tim Collett on slap bass and vocals is the founding and ongoing member of iconic Australian rockabilly act, 'The Convertibles'. Tim's long association with the Rockabilly genre has forged a rhythmic, percussive, solid, titillating slap bass style and has been a mentor to many upcoming enthusiasts. Tim also has a rich vocal ability that can range from smooth to gritty and is equally at home with a big crooner or right on the outer edge with a wild Rockabilly number.
Dean Kendal on drums and vocals was also a founding member of another iconic Queensland Rockabilly act, 'The Shakin Quavers' as well as performing a long stint with the Convertibles. Dean is a wild man on the skins and with his lineage, the Rockabilly feel is as natural to him as breathing. Dean onstage can be both visually and aurally exciting as he embellishes his intense solid beat control with frenetic bursts.
On vocals and acoustics is multi award winning Country music performer, Maree Gwynne who at one time in her early career shared honours with the likes of Keith Urban. To hear Maree's big voice and witness her upbeat boppy and sassy onstage persona channels memories of rockabilly queens like Wanda Jackson and Janice Martin. Maree's warm, personable and chatty nature is also always a big hit with all audiences.
Last but not least on lead guitar and vocals is Dan Fargo who has been playing the traps and paying his dues for a good while. Dan in his own right is an in-demand performer and his vocal and picking skills are much acclaimed. His past stints with roots blues; rock and country acts has helped Dan reinforce and develop his own unique Rockabilly guitar style. Dan's considerable vocal abilities from crisp and growly to warm and affable lilts compliment his fine instrumentation.
Twang in the Rockabilly stakes have the ability to impress be that either for the long time enthusiast or someone just experiencing the music form for the first time. Apart from Twang's great technical instrumental skills, being able share the lead vocal spot between three capable vocalists offers an entertaining shifting dynamic. Not to mention lending to some amazing scintillating harmonies. Above all Twang collectively exude an infectious sense of fun and excitement that draws from their collective love and enthusiasm for Rockabilly music and lifestyle.
