A CULTURAL FEAST- FESTURI 2005!
FESTURI 2005 showcases the rich tapestry of culture, tradition and talent that exists on the Sunshine Coast with its inhabitants coming from more than one hundred countries around the world.
Building on the success of previous years FESTURI 2005 will feature new entertainment and activities providing a fresh flavour to accompany the established events.
A vibrant spectacle, FESTURI provides increased exposure to and appreciation of nationalities beyond our own.
With over 700 performers from all over south east Queensland will showcase their talents originating from countries such as; Brazil, Ethiopia, Bosnia, Greece, Germany, Hawaii, Mongolia, Samoa, Spain, China, Latvia, Indigenous Australia, Ireland, Poland and New Zealand.
Officially FESTURI 2005 will be launched on Friday 26 August at 7:00pm at the Shearwater Resort, Caloundra; attended by federal and state Members of Parliament, local government councillors, festival partners and multicultural groups.
Crowds will be impressed by the Cultures of Southern Europe performers on Saturday 27 August at 1:30pm till 4:30pm at Kings Beach and bedazzled by the Latin "Dance to a Different Beat" event at 7:30pm till midnight at Shearwater Resort, Kings Beach.
The Great Multicultural Day of Celebration on Sunday 28 August closes FESTURI from 11am with colourful entertainment, parades, international food, cultural displays and workshops at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Live vocal and musical performances will keep crowds entertained until the sun goes down. Community groups and schools participate by setting up displays and artistic works that showcase their LOTE (Languages Other Than English) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs.
For the first time ever a storytelling tent will conduct workshops and entertain visitors with readings and discussions.
A Multicultural Speakers Forum tent will provide an open environment for mediated discussion and debate on multicultural issues affecting all sections of the Sunshine Coast. Workshops of song, dance art and language will entertain and educate visitors throughout the day with scintillating games and demonstrations.
