This year is shaping up to be a very merry time indeed. Various activities throughout Cooroy will be held in December and the peak of the celebrations will be in Apex Park from 4.00pm on Saturday 5th December.
We've added a heritage theme this year to celebrate some of the town's milestones including:
* 5th year of Christmas in Cooroy
* 50 Years Since the First Ever Street Parade in Cooroy
* 75 Years for the Cooroy Golf Club
* 100 Years for the Cooroy State School
* 100 Years for Wimmers Soft Drinks
* 150 Years for the State of Queensland
* Renovation and opening of the historic mill site and hinterland library
You are going to love the entertainment line up that has been organised this year with loads of free activities making it an affordable day out for the whole family.
The festivities start with a Poet's Breakfast at Bistro Bistro from 8.00am to 10.00am (ph 5447 7144 for bookings). $29 per person includes 2 hours of entertainment, a big breakfast and cofee, tea or juice.
From 4.00pm there will be loads of festivities in Apex Park with free rides, free face painting, Magician Ben Wright, food stalls, a licensed venue and loads of activities and entertainment. Don't forget all the competitions you can enter also - see below for more information!
The Bendigo Bank Street Parade at 5.00pm will be followed by some great entertainment and a fireworks display sponsored by Cooroy Mountain Spring Water & Wimmers Soft Drinks that will blow your socks off.
The Chamber of Commerce are also organising street lights and decorations to ensure the whole town will be in a festive mood. Ricon Contractors Pty Ltd are decorating the Christmas Tree on the roundabout at the RSL which is sure to be even better than last year's beautiful tree. And Ritek Building Solutions has sponsored the decorations on the roundabout at the Victory Hotel. Drop into town on the evening of 1 December for the offical "turning on" of the Christmas Lights.

The Bendigo Bank Street
Parade starts at 5.00pm and makes it way up Maple Street
and back with local business and community groups competing to take out the Christmas in Cooroy Best Float Award.
Community groups and businesses can participate in the parade and this year the theme is: "Look to the past, enjoy the present, imagine the future"
QMP Decorate Your Shop Comp
The Queensland Media Print Decorate Your Shop Competition is on again. Retailers can go in the running to win an award for the best decorations (first prize - $150 QMP voucher; 2nd prize - $100 QMP voucher).
Residents and visitors can vote on their favourite window in and go in the running to win a $100 Lukes Cooroy IGA voucher.
Entry forms for businesses will be available in November. Express your interest in being involved by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Voting forms for the public will be available in participating stores throughout December.
Poet's Breakfast at Bistro Bistro
Christmas in Cooroy kicks off with a Poet's Breakfast at Bisto Bistro from 8am to 10am. There is some great poets to entertain you and a scrumptous Bistro Bistro Breakfast to give you a great start to the day.

For residents in Cooroy and the surrounding areas, the MelcoLanhams Mitre 10 Christmas Lights Competition with free entry gives the opportunity to win some great prizes including $100 and $50 voucher at MelcoLanhams Mitre 10 Cooroy store!
So unpack your tinsel, lights and decorating skills and make sure your decorations are up in the first week of December to be in the running. Entry forms will be available instore at MelcoLanhams Mitre 10 Cooroy from November

For budding photographers, the Cooroy Central Guardian Pharmacy Photographic Competition provides the opportunity to showcase your photographs and go in the running for some fantastic photographic prizes.
