The Australian Chamber Orchestra presents ‘Around the World’ performed by ACO2 and starring international director and acclaimed violinist Benjamin Schmid. ACO2 brings together musicians from the ACO with the rising stars of Australian music.
Embracing much-loved works in the string repertoire, ‘Around the World’ takes the audience on a journey through America, Russia and Germany, culminating in a voyage through Salzburg, Barcelona, Paris and Maputo with Berger’s Metropoles Suite for violin and strings.
Benjamin Schmid, a previous Guest Director of the ACO, is a recipient of the German Record Prize, the Echo Klassik Prize, the Gramophone Editor’s Choice and the Strad Selection and has appeared with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra (London), the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

Get involved in the ACO2 String Workshop on Friday 22 May from 10:00am – 1300pm at the Good Shepherd Lutheran College in Noosa.
ACO2conduct String Workshops during their regional tours each year. Students become part of the ACO for a day, learning our rehearsal and performance techniques. Thematically structured rehearsals and tutorials are based around concepts such as listening, leading, breathing, blending and performance style. Students from different schools combine to form a chamber orchestra with ACO players leading each section. Each workshop culminates in an informal performance for family and friends.
String workshops are free of charge and run for three hours. There is no recommended standard for applicants for regional String Workshops. We work with local string teachers and ensemble leaders to devise a tailored program for each area. Please complete a separate application form for each student.

Parents of workshop participants can buy tickets to the show on Friday night at Nambour Civic Centre for just $37 each. Students participating in the workshop can purchase tickets to the Friday night show for $20 each*.
*Proof of attendance at the workshops will be required to access this price.
