A big, fat Greek feast to take place in Noosa on December 12
A big, fat, Greek themed feast will be staged by Slow Food Noosa at Noosa's Regional Art Gallery on Sunday 12 December at 12.30pm. The lunch will be served alfresco with the menu planned by celebrity chef, Matt Golinski of 'Ready, Steady Cook' and Rolling Dolmade Catering fame along with Slow Foodies Anne Marshall and Erika Hackett.
The feast will honour International Terra Madre Day (Mother Earth Day). Terre Madre Day celebrations have grown from Slow Food Terra Madre's bi-annual conferences held in Milan and the Salone de Gusto, an exhibition celebrating Italy's delicious foods and wines. Terra Madre Day is all about being grateful to Mother Earth for local, natural and delicious food.
Slow Food Noosa's Terra Madre feast will feature traditional Greek fare. Dishes may include a selection of mezethes (small, savoury dishes) such as taramosalata, dolmades, pickled artichokes and plump olives. Mains such as barbecued fish kebabs with skordalia and lamb kebabs with spanakopita will be served with a refreshing wild green salad. Fresh figs and baklava to finish should keep sweet tooths satisfied. Greek-style wines will be available for purchase and Greek music, dancing and entertainment will accompany the sounds of the Noosa River flowing by.
All profits will contribute to the next Noosa Slow Food School Kitchen Garden project at Eumundi Primary School and to supporting local growers and food artisans.
