SeniorNet Maroochy Inc to run - Great Seniors Debate and IT Expo
Maureen Hungferford President of local seniors computer association - SeniorNet Maroochy Inc - which is a seniors self help computer group has been hard at it - putting together the final touches for the associations combined debate and information technology Expo to celebrate Seniors Week.
The event is being held during Seniors Week on Monday August 16 at the Uniting Church in Millwell Rd Maroochydore from 9.00 to 12.00.
The Information technology trade expo will be aimed specifically at Seniors in our community- and will feature a Maroochy Libraries display and an IT expo section in which local IT traders and shops. will display and demonstrate their services and products.
The main feature of the day however will be a debate between members of SeniorNet Maroochy (who are all aged 55 and over) and the Maroochydore High Senior debating team - the topic or argument will be-" That computers are for the young and not the young at heart" young people will argue on the negative and seniors will argue the affirmative.
This debate topic will serve to focus the public's attention on the positive contribution older members of our community can make and will also dispel some common myths about aging and ability
At the end of the debate lunch and refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity for members of the public, SeniorNet Maroochy members and young people to interact.
This event is free - and all members of the public are welcome to find out what its all about.
