Acclaimed Tasmanian contemporary furniture designer, Brendan Sharpe, will share his experience of the different approaches to design and building a sustainable business practice at the Noosa Regional Gallery at 3 pm Saturday 15 July. Brendan is one of the designers featured in an exhibition of contemporary furniture from Tasmanian Wood Design Collection titled 'Aspects of the Wood Design Collection'.
The exhibition official opening is 6 pm 14 July with the exhibition continuing until 13 August.
Sharpe, whose studio is situated in an historic Georgian township of Richmond, Tasmania is known for his design, exhibition work and commissions for limited production. Brendan says, "Tasmania's grand natural beauty inspires me and my pieces reflect the unique environment of my island home".
His furniture is made from a diverse range of materials, each with their own qualities - for example, metal is used for strength and definition, and fine Tasmanian timbers, such as Huon Pine and Myrtle, for warmth.
