'Enter the world of secret women's business'
Have you ever wanted to sneak into a place where you didn't belong? Ever wanted to be a voyeur in a secret world? Well, Lind Lane Theatre is giving you that chance and is currently calling auditions for five women and one lucky man for their 2008 season opener, 'Five Women Wearing The Same Dress' to be performed in February next year.
To be directed by Keith Daly (The Shoe-Horn Sonata, Oh, Mother), auditions will take place on Wednesday 24th October at Lind Lane, located at 16 Mitchell St, Nambour at 7:30pm.
From the creator of the Emmy Award-winning series, Six Feet Under and Oscar-winning writer of American Beauty, Alan Ball, comes an irreverent and funny look at the intricacies of friendship and the power of similar dressing. During a flashy and pretentious wedding reception at a Tennessee estate, five reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids hide out in an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason for avoiding the proceedings below.
Auditionees are required to fill the roles of Frances, a painfully sweet but sheltered fundamentalist; Mindy, the cheerful, wisecracking lesbian sister of the groom; Georgeanne, whose heartbreak over her own failed marriage triggers outrageous behavior; Meredith, the bride's younger sister whose rebelliousness masks a dark secret; and Trisha, a jaded beauty whose cynicism about men is called into question when she meets Tripp, a charming bad-boy usher to whom there is more than meets the eye. All roles require southern American accents.
