Every year the Buderim community celebrates Australia Day with a massive parade down the Main Street. Open to all, it is an eagerly awaited event on the Sunshine Coast Social Calendar organised by the Buderim War Memorial Community Association & the Rotary Club of Buderim and proudly sponsored by the Sunshine Coast regional Council.
Festivities start at 7.00am with a Multi Faith Thanks Giving service presided over by Pastor Jeremy Greaves at St Marks Anglican Church in Burnett street. The Lions Club of Buderim gets you & the kids going with a big Breakfast from 7.30am in the main street outside of Midi's Shopping Centre.
Next is the Flag raising at the Old Post Office at 8.00am with representatives of the Gubbi Gubbi tribe & local politicians in attendance with School Children and locals. Just before 8.00am the Main Street is closed to traffic to make area safe for the large contingent of the public who will be walking from the Main Roundabout outside of the Buderim Tavern all the way to the Buderim Village park.
During this set-up period the public will be entertained by Buskers & bands. The Grand Parade is signalled by a Fly past of Vintage Airplanes at 9.00am. Participants are all community minded groups and include School bands, Clowns, Car Enthusiasts, Dog Groups, Garden Groups, emergency Service representatives & Community Groups.
Fun filled antics are expected and both the children & adults will be entertained. The Parade ends at the new Buderim Village Park where Entertainment & Food Stalls will be available.
