The Maleny Festival of Australian Film is on again!
Presenting the latest and best of Australian film over the weekend of the 22 to 24 January 2016, and including short films by Griffith University Film School graduates and Black Screen Australia!
On Friday 22 January we will be joined by our special guest, film critic, Matthew Toomey. Matthew Toomey developed a love for cinema after landing a job in a video store as a 17-year-old. In 1998, he started reviewing movies for a community radio station and created a website (The Film Pie) to help share those reviews. For the past 10 years, Matthew has been the film critic on the 612ABC breakfast program hosted by Spencer Howson (currently Brisbane’s highest rated breakfast radio show). He also reviews for regional ABC radio outlets based in Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Mt Isa. In addition to critiquing movies, Matthew has also had the chance to interview an array of actors and filmmakers including Hugh Jackman, Matt Damon, George Clooney, Kenneth Branagh, Albert Brooks and J.J. Abrams.
