For the first time since 1980, the iconic Australian Surf Life Saving Championships event is returning to the Sunshine Coast. Across 9 days, over 7,000 surf life savers from 313 surf clubs will compete in over 400 events from Youth, Open and Master categories. With plenty of excitement and free activities on offer, come and be part of the action as the Aussies chase the sun back to the 80's.
The event will be staged at the Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba beaches and local parks within these areas.
Youth Championships: All events for the 2016 Youth Championships will be held at Maroochydore Beach.
Opens and Masters Championships: Ocean events for the Masters and Opens Championships will be held at Maroochydore Beach. Boats will be held at Alexandra Headland and beach events will be held at Mooloolaba.

The 2016 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, the largest event of its kind, will be held on the Sunshine Coast from Saturday 16 April to Sunday 24 April 2016. This is a one day extension to the program from those previously announced. Surf Life Saving’s pinnacle event and annual competition will take place in 2016 at the Sunshine Coast’s Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba beaches.
