Important National Forum to Advance Women as Leaders to Be Held in the Sunshine Coast on Thursday 31 May
The Sunshine Coast will host an important national program designed to support the advancement of women as leaders in both business and community.
The full-day Forum will examine the challenges faced by women in leadership and apply practical strategies to overcome those challenges.
The program is currently being rolled out in capital cities and major regional centres across Australia.
Guest speaker at the Sunshine Coast Forum will be Cr Zrinka Johnston. Cr Johnston is Deputy Mayor of Maroochy Shire Council, as well as a Member of the Budget Committee and Committee Member of Sunshine Coast Regional Organisation of Councils (Maroochy, Caloundra and Noosa). Cr Johnston also has extensive involvement in numerous Buderim community organisations.
"The 2007 Australian Women & Leadership Forums will provide current and aspiring female leaders here in The Sunshine Coast with invaluable opportunities for networking and professional development," said Facilitator and Program Manager Di Pierce.
"Over the past two years the Australian Women & Leadership Forum has received phenomenal levels of support in metropolitan centres and has been embraced wholeheartedly by leading private and public sector organisations as a dynamic leadership program.
"Like the water crisis, we as a nation need to work hard to nurture, educate and develop our female leaders or else they will quite simply dry up.
"The results of the 2006 Australian Census of Women in Leadership conducted by the Federal Government's Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) found that women hold only 12% of executive management positions and 39.5% of companies have no women executive managers.
"With their scarcity in top roles in the workplace, they are under added pressure to support other women to succeed, excel and stay in leadership roles over the long term. Women leaders are a precious resource we cannot afford to lose. It is a case of use or lose.
"There is so much potential in The Sunshine Coast and I believe it will be a great event for local professional women," said Di Pierce.
The Sunshine Coast Women & Leadership Forum™ will be held on Thursday 31 May 2007 at Maroochy Surf Club: 34-36 Alexandra Parade, Maroochydore.
The Australian Women & Leadership Forums are proud to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation
