In January 1947 Bronia Armstrong, nineteen years of age, was found dead in an office in the centre of Brisbane. Her boss Reg Brown, who proclaimed his innocence, was convicted of her murder and a week later was found hanging in his prison cell. This terrible family secret was kept from Reg's grandchildren and it wasn't until over 60 years later that his two grand-daughters Deb and Jan began digging for information.
What started as curiosity became a realisation that a gross miscarriage of justice had taken place. The result was the book Lingering Doubts, published in March this year. Deb Drummond and Jan Teunis are holding an author talk, presented by Sunshine Coast Literary Association, in which they will talk about the research and writing of their book and the challenges involved. Afternoon tea will be provided.
