Sunshine Coast Concert Band, music director Ken Chadwick (L.Mus.A)

The Sunshine Coast Concert Band

The Sunshine Concert Band is a voluntary community band that has been performing since 1995 under the direction of Ken Chadwick. The band was previously known as the Caloundra City Concert Band, and changed its name to reflect the diversity of the members and charities assisted across the Sunshine Coast.

As well as professional musicians, members come from a vast range of professions including accountants, nurses, librarians and teachers and all band members participate purely for 'the love of it'.
The age of players ranges from 13 to 80 and approximately 85% of the original members still play in the band, which meets every Wednesday night for practise.
The band performs at several community events as well as monthly performances to raise funds for local charities.
The success of our band is largely due to this dedication which sees us playing at about ten to twelve charity concerts in a year. Additionally we also host three dances a year to raise funds to cover our ongoing costs.
