Go barefoot to help reduce the impact of melanoma.
That’s the message from Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA) as it puts out the call to Sunshine Coast residents for help, in conjunction with Skin Cancer Action Week.
A barefoot bowls fundraiser to be held at Buderim Bowls Club on November 18 will help raise funds to help MPA continue to provide support, and information, for melanoma patients, not to mention guarantee participants a good time and plenty of laughs while helping a good cause.
Teams will be made up on the day and everyone is invited to join the fun at Buderim Bowls Club, Elizabeth Street, Buderim from 2pm.
Melanoma Patients Australia is a non-profit organisation that offers a national network of support and information to patients, their families, carers, and friends about melanoma prevention, diagnosis, management and treatment.
MPA is one of the largest melanoma patient advocacy groups in Australia, regularly advocating on behalf of patients to all levels of government as well as hosting free regional public melanoma forums.
“Melanoma Patients Australia receives no government funding, MPA is entirely dependent on the generosity and goodwill of the public and sponsors,” MPA CEO Will Kerkhof said.
“Events such as the MPA Barefoot Bowls Day on Sunday are critical to MPA being able to deliver it’s vision: to reduce the impact of melanoma on all Australians. ”
Christine Bleijie MPA Sunshine Coast Facilitator said she hoped the event would draw participants from across the Coast to help make the day a success.
“The Buderim Bowls Club provides a fantastic venue, and Melanoma Patients Australia, a great excuse to kick off your shoes and enjoy a sausage sizzle and friendly game of bowls in the company of friends.”
