The Australian Sewing Guild was formed with the aim of ensuring that the art of sewing does not die.
Its focus is mainly sewing by machine. It's stated objectives are:
1) to share and further the growth of the art of sewing.
2) to bring sewers together and encourage the establishment of sewing groups,
3) to encourage and maintain a high standard of craftsmanship.
There is a fee to join the Australian National Sewing Guild, it is a not for profit national organization.
Neighbourhood groups meet regularly throughout the country.
The Tewantin Group have a small library where members can borrow patterns, books etc.
Members of the Guild can attend any neighbourhood group, some very keen members even make a point of attending neighbourhood group meetings when they are in the vicinity and on holidays!
A list of all the neighbourhood groups in Australia and their meeting date and time is published in the national newsletter.
