World Circumnavigator Will Skipper Boat for Mooloolaba Breast & other Cancers Charity Event. Sunshine Coast residents are being offered an exciting unique opportunity to cruise the Mooloolaba canals on Hahn Group Company boat, Black Gold, a 22 Metre power catamaran to raise money for local breast cancer charity "Beautiful You". The event will be held on Saturday the 8th of November at 4 pm and will support Deb Clayton's incredible work, investing time and using group collaboration to empower and support women with breast cancer and other cancers. She also offers women undergoing treatment for other cancers across the Sunshine Coast many practical resources that assist their journey. There are few charities that offer such grass roots help that are both physical and psychological.
"Beautiful You" supports those in treatment via inspirational talks and social events, workshops on handicraft, empowerment talks, trivia nights, massage, entertainment and the support that comes from meeting those in a similar predicament is immense and life changing. To have a support system that is so positive, offering continuous group events and friendship well beyond cancer treatments, is unusual and we are so fortunate to have this available on the Sunshine Coast as anyone of us could need support during our lives.
CEO of Hahn Group, Allan Lear, said that his Company vision was to incorporate social responsibility within its framework because community is important to all of us and utilising company resources or equipment was a productive way to fundraise for good causes. Those purchasing a ticket through " Beautiful You " for this unique Mooloolaba event, will be able to fully explore the Sunshine Coasts' most adaptable, go anywhere, technology driven boat that can beach land and has circumnavigated Australia while also assisting many industries through its bio refinery technology.
Deb Clayton, from Beautiful You, said "tickets are $100 per head and we are keen for any extra donations above the ticket price because we can always help more people with more support. The ultimate goal is to provide more resources to those in need and our wish list is to provide an acreage retreat available for some special family time and offered to those during the difficult months whilst undergoing treatment for cancer ".
Two lucky people that pay the highest amount above the $100 ticket price, will be able to sit in the wheel house during the canal cruise over two hours and ask skipper, Allan Lear, any questions about sailing his previous boat, a forty foot yacht which he circumnavigated the Globe with his wife Gerry. They visited seventy two countries over five and a half years, making the sea miles travelled nearly two and a half circumnavigations. They were attacked by pirates off Socotra Island near Yemen and sailed newborn son Rowan home from Florida. Their baby was born in a port side town near Tampa, in the United States but Rowan is now Australian by decent while their second son Jarred was also a sea baby and was born on arrival back in Australia.
Their boat was not much larger than Jessica Watsons' to give an idea of size. Allan said "Sailing and financing the trip involved regularly working in Kuwait on the oil fields while Gerry looked after the boat in various ports around the world and these experiences could easily fill a few books". Gerry Lear will host the event with other Hahn Group staff volunteering their time towards this great cause and she shares a common bond with Deb Clayton in that they have both lost their mothers to breast cancer. For an exciting memorable Mooloolaba cruise event, that includes being fully catered with tasty canapés and a choice of beverages with a host of interesting stories, you can't go past this experience.
The event on Black Gold, leaving from the Wharf Marina, Mooloolaba on Saturday the 8th of November 4pm to 6.30pm will be a smart casual event and is a tax deduction. To book and pay $100 per person, guests can ring Deb Clayton on 0409 480 250 at Beautiful You or request an invitation via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
