Local artist is finalist in the Steps Disability Awards 2004 Art person of the Year.
Emerging Artist Becky Down opens her exhibition of paintings titled 'Becky' at the Noosa Regional Access Gallery on Saturday July 24th at 2pm
Becky has used the creative process of painting in the last 5 years to develop skills and create a more independent lifestyle through the process of her art.
Becky has worked with the artist Corrie Wright since 1999 and continues today to use art as a key element for skill building, learning and community access. Becky finds painting a very comfortable space, independent to her thoughts and her own devices that investigate ways to interact with others. Over the last five years Becky attends workshops, has participated in many exhibitions and projects. Her paintings are now well known with a commitment to a major show of work at the University of Southern Queensland in 2005. Becky has been short-listed for the Steps Disability Awards 2004 Artperson of the Year. Beckys dedication to the painting process is portrayed in layering of her work and the use of strong acrylic colour. Her lovely ink drawings are a whimsical reflection of Becky's keen sense of humour and strong understanding of self.
Exhibition continues from the 24th July to the 9th August
