The first Beerwah Charity Sports was held in 1971, in support of the Queensland Cancer Fund now called Cancer Council Queensland and this year marks the 46th sports day. Over the years this annual event has achieved iconic local status as a project which involves the whole community.
Most local businesses provide sponsorships, while community groups and individuals assist with the overall organisation, and also provide the volunteer work force on the day.
The program features Queensland's Strongest Man and Woman competition which starts at 9.00am. Prepare to be amazed when competitors attempt to lift a car. Vehicles should assemble for the Show & Shine at 9.00am. Judging will start at 10.00am. Musical entertainment provided by Maleny Country Music and Ukulele Group from 9.30am.
Talent Quest 2017 commences at 1.00pm. Cash prizes totalling $500 to be won. Head over to the Kids' Tent around 10.00am and you will find the Face Painter, Balloon Artist, Andino the Magician and Sid the Seagull will be handing out Free Sample Bags. There will also be a Jumping Castle. And athletics. Why not try your hand at Throwing a Broom. You could win a cash prize. Entries in the photography and scarecrow competitions will be on display.
As well as an extensive program of horse sports, featuring over 200 events you will find plenty of food, drinks, fresh produce, cakes, plants, coffee van, craft & trade stalls, , Animal Nursery, vintage vehicles on display.
