Big Wrap for Nurses has a serious message
Last year we wrapped the Big Pineapple head to toe in giant bandages, this year, come to the Ettamogah pub on May 4th to see what we wrap for the 2008 Big Wrap for Nurses kick starting a week of celebrations for International Nurses' Day.
The Big Wrap for Nurses is about just that; giving Nurses and Health Care professionals the recognition they deserve and for just one day of the year, focusing on the important role they play in their careers in our Hospitals, Aged and Health Care facilities, across the Sunshine Coast.
Now in its second year, the event is gaining momentum and recognition from the Sunshine Coast community. It's a day of celebrations to focus the spotlight on this worthy profession and treat our nurses to some good fun.
Aussie World, will play host to the official opening at 11am, with guest speaker Loree Rudd on Sunday May 4th. The Aussie World car park will be converted to a race track for hospital beds, where teams will compete to win $1000 prize money donated by RACQ and The Golden Bed Pan Trophy donated by one of the days sponsors Central Queensland University. The evening will see a buffet dinner held, a chance for the industry to mingle and get involved in the Outback Nursing theme.
This all sounds like great fun, and it is, but the serious message of the Big Wrap for Nurses is an important one not to be missed. Thanking nurses, providing recognition for their efforts and encouraging collaboration of Health Care facilities in our region is at the heart of this event. Sue Dunlop, Managing Director of Regional Nursing Solutions, and founder of the Big Wrap for Nurses event talks to us about the day.
"RNS takes the 360 degree approach to the business of nursing. We provide our nurses with employment, training, lifestyle balance, and social interaction. With like-minded employers involved in The Big Wrap the nursing community has an opportunity to celebrate as a whole and treat all Sunshine Coast nurses as VIPs for at least a day."
"Last year the day was filled with laughter, competitive spirit, celebration and teamwork through to top management, and the health care organisations involved in all parts of the day (opening, bed races and ball) networked, competed and danced together, some meeting for the first time. The sponsors and individual teams involved showed themselves to be open to innovation by throwing themselves into the day with great spirit."
If you would like more information about the day please contact event organisers 2right on 5448 2661 or visit myrns.com.au.
RNS support the region's aged care and health care industry by providing a team of highly qualified nurses for short and long-term placement around the clock. To join the RNS team of nurses or access their services please call 1300 761 351.
