MARACCAS is an emerging Social Enterprise and Community Arts NGO based in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast (Currently based at NISER's new social, creative and entrepreneurial hub in Pomona called the 'Tree House'). We run annual South American Theatre and Arts Exchange Programs as well as productions in Aus.
Coming up as part of Anywhere Theatre Festival (5th - 21st May) is a 17day Intensive theatre workshop program in the innovative style of Bio Drama Dharma (A unique form of contemporary Colombian Theatre with an environmental spin, that allows participants and audiences to reconnect with the earth, nature and indigenous cultures and ideologies; exploring archetypes, sacred rituals and ancient memory) - This is a first for Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Australian audiences! - Very exciting. The workshop program culminates in 2 performances at the Old Ambulance Station in Nambour (20th & 21st May). http://theoldambulancestation.com/
The story and play's script is based on traditional indigenous dreamtime stories of the local Gubbi Gubbi (Kabi Kabi) people. Exploring ancient memory, mythology, archetypes and promotes social equality and respect for the native land and our local indigenous people.
We would like to extend our invitation to the local Sunshine Coast community (young and emerging artists, established artists, multicultural and indigenous communities, environmentalists, theatre enthusiasts, etc.) to come and participate in the 17 day program - or 1 off workshops, 2 & 3 & 5 day workshop bundles - Or even invite them to see the SHOW at the end of the program (20th & 21st May).
