Entertainment on the Day
A great line-up of entertainment has been organised for Bizzart Day. Throughout the whole day from 10am entertainment will happen at 2 venues; the outdoor marquee stage and the coffee shop venue inside the Gallery. The outdoor marquee will host the sophisticated sounds of the Cooloola Community Orchestra, the dynamic 'Big Rubber Band', a marimba band, and the fantastic 'Pantastic Steel Band' and the exotic Qetesh Bellydancers. The coffee shop venue will host a plethora of solo and acoustic artists from past Performer's Café participants. The late afternoon and evening will culminate in "Jazz, Bizzazz" featuring well-known Australian jazz pianist Stuart Wadlam, exciting vocalist Davina, accompanied by Peter Dobe (sax & flute), George Downes (percussion) and Brian Adams (guitar/bass). Good food and drinks will be available.
Exhibitions Opening on the Day
The Gallery received RADF funding to employ Nyria King to curate the exhibition '100 Years, 100 Voices' in The Gympie Times Exhibition Space based on the history of the building.
The Library will have display in Gallery Three based around the history of the School of Arts building during Library years. The Hugo Du Rietz Gallery will be dedicated to the actual building infrastructure and architects. The downstairs Meeting Room will be named The Edward Bytheway Meeting Room and the large restored framed print from the first Parliament sitting will go on display. The Gympie Business Association (now the Chamber of Commerce) have been collecting donations from businesses in Cooloola to go towards the restoration costs of this historic work. All exhibitions listed here will remain on display until Sunday 3rd of April 2005.
