The Little Morgue Winery is one of the most unique cellar doors in Australia. Situated in a building that was previously a working morgue, the building is a landmark in the area. Originally built as a textile factory it was then converted to a morgue, and now into winery and cellar door. The building style is Gothic with wrought iron through out. The new interior that is currently under construction aims to bring the new and the old aspects of the building together.
The cellar door is on the upper level that was originally the chapel. With high vaulted ceilings, there is a viewing platform into the winery operations below. The lower level is dug into the ground making it the perfect environment for a cellar with a constant temperature of 18 degrees. The winery area on the lower area is ideal for receiving grapes, fermentation, maturation, bottling and labeling, as well as room for a laboratory.
True to its history as a morgue, the Little Morgue Winery is holding a Black Friday Dinner on the 13th February. Guests will enjoy a four course meal in full Black Friday theme, with pre dinner drinks on the Cadaver Terrace, and then dinner in the Morgue.
