Noosa Library will host a book launch of Alan Pearson: Expressionist Portraits by Alison Pearson on 17 February at 4pm.
Fifty years of celebrated artist, Alan's portraits, painted and drawn, are gathered together in this large format hardback book.
Designed by the artist himself, the coffee-table style book contains visually exciting illustrations of his portraits from public art galleries, private collectors internationally and from the artist's own collection.
The high quality images are united with text by Alison Pearson and contributions from portrait subjects such as artist Margaret Hudson-Ware and author Laurence Fearnley. Incisive interpretations are also provided by art commentators: Tim Garrity, Denys Trussell, T.L. Rodney Wilson and Richard Wolfe among others.
The artist's own esteemed self-portraits form a substantial core of the book, charting his progress autobiographically. The author focuses on the stories inherent in a portrait with the arc of the artist's story presented in chronological sequence.
Attendees at the book launch will have the opportunity to hear more about the artist and his work directly from someone in the know, the artist's wife, Alison Pearson.
While the event is free, bookings are essential. You can book online at Sunshine Coast Libraries website or phone Noosa Library 54424411. Light refreshments will be provided.
