Painting in the Park
Duration: - 2 Hour Workshop

Description: - During this workshop participants will be introduced to a variety of techniques to create texture in their painting. This workshop encourages participants to experiment with numerous alternative painting techniques and to explore the combined use of colours, textures and lines. Participants will be introduced to numerous methods of creating a diverse variety of textures and 'movement' in their painting. Participants are encouraged to experiment with all techniques and explore their own curiosities.
It is expected that participants will incorporate a combination of several of the techniques learnt during the workshop in their artwork, creating a dynamic art piece.
The participants will then apply the new texture techniques they have learnt to a canvas; a basic background outline of the Glasshouse Mountains Landscape will already be printed onto the canvasses for participants to work with.
Outcomes:- Each participant will leave the workshop with one completed painting and their trial card to take home.

Recommended Age: - 9 - 16 Years
NB: Minimum Age Exception - We will accept bookings for participants younger (No Younger than 6) than this age barrier only if accompanied by an older sibling, friend or parent/ guardian etc, or if they have prior experience in the activity. Description: Learn how to make different but simple shaped paper planes; test them in the park to see which planes are successful and which ones are not.
Outcomes: To enjoy making planes with other children your own age; enjoy some sunshine; a time for listening, understanding, creativity; fine-tune motor skills and learn about aerodynamics.

CREATING CUSTOM HACKY SACKS, Creating Custom Footbags (Hacky Sack) / Juggling balls
Duration: -2 Hour Workshop

Description:- Brief introduction to games of hacky sack and juggling- rules, cultural context - circus etc, materials used to create balls, as well as ball design options.
Participants will create several balls to play hacky sack and/or juggle with. Upon creating their collection of balls, the workshop group will then engage in a brief game of hacky sack/ juggling in the park outside the library.
Outcomes:-Participants will leave the workshop with a collection of several (3) multicoloured balls that they can use to play hacky sack and/or juggle. Participants will also learn hacky sack game rules and techniques as well as some basic juggling styles that they can practice/play at home, school etc. Upon completing the workshop, participants will also be given a handout of Hacky Sack Game instructions and ball manoeuvres that they can practice at home.

Charges for Participating: - $5 per person

Weekdays, Learn surfing skills & refresh old ones in a fun-filled atmosphere by pro Surfing QLD coach. Description:-
This workshop introduces participants to the limitless potential of making digital movies. Filmmakers and workers from The S.C.U.F.F.F.Y will take you through practical Movie Making and post production techniques, including, but not limited to, shooting and lighting, scouting locations and 'capturing' your videos.
Post production; using Windows Moviemaker, will introduce participants to adding effects; including music and sound, titles, credits and basic scene editing.
Outcomes:- Participants will receive a comprehensive handout of introductory Movie Making techniques to take home and continue their filmmaking aspirations.  Furthermore, participants will be introduced to the S.C.U.F.F.F.Y and it's management crew, as well as being presented with a possible opportunity to develop and showcase their movie in S.C.U.F.F.F.Y 2008.

From making and juggling hacky sacks, old skool games, playstation playoffs to painting in the park, the City's youth will be spoilt for choice yet again these school holidays thanks to the huge program of activities on offer.
 
Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said The Program, now in its fourth year, continues to provide parents and youth with a quality, popular holiday recreational program.
 
"Every year The Program boasts a range of free or low cost activities to suit a range of ages and interests that continues to prove extremely popular with youth across the City," Cr Aldous said.
 
The Program is delivered by Council's Youthlinx Program in conjunction with Caloundra City Libraries. Other activities are also being hosted by the Caloundra Regional Art Gallery.
