The 6th annual BOQ Maroochydore Celebrity Charity Golf Day and Sports Luncheon will be held in just a few weeks’ time and Robert DiPierdomenico, long-time event host, flew into the Coast to publicly announce the celebrities attending this year’s event on the MixFM Morning Show with Mark and Caroline.
Joining our favourite event hosts, Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico and MixFM’s Caroline Hutchinson, is an incredible line-up of Aussie and Kiwi sports stars that will be golfing with our corporate teams in the morning and then entertaining us over lunch with the panel debate adjudicated by Richard Champion, to decide Australia Vs. New Zealand – Which Country Reigns Supreme.
Representing their countries in cricket, netball and rugby union respectively, meet our debate panel teams! The New Zealand side has been locked down with Danny Morrison, Anna Harrison and Kees Meeuws and our Aussie side is made up of Rodney Hogg, Liz Ellis and Matt Dunning who will be fierce competitors in the on-stage debate!
We’re also thrilled to announce that Wally Lewis ‘The King of Rugby League’ will be joining us as a Guest Speaker at our Corporate Sports Lunch. Having enjoyed Wally’s company at previous events we know that his stories from his footy days are not to be missed!
Wally Lewis is also a proud Hear and Say Ambassador and will be joined by his daughter Jamie-Lee and wife Jackie to provide some insight into Jamie-Lee’s experiences at Hear and Say, being one of the very first children to receive a cochlear implant.
The annual BOQ Maroochydore Celebrity Charity Golf Day and Corporate Sports Luncheon, organised by BOQ Maroochydore’s Debbie Battaglini-Clarke together with Min Swan from White House Celebrations, attracts top local businesses and many of Australia’s elite sports celebrities to help raise essential funds for local charities. To date the event has raised in excess of $270,000 for local charities including Skoping (a support program facilitated through Wishlist), The Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre and SunnyKids. This year the event team is excited to be partnering with the Hear and Say Sunshine Coast Centre so that more children with hearing loss in our community can receive the gifts of sound and speech.
Hear and Say’s CEO Chris McCarthy is delighted that children impacted by hearing loss on the Sunshine Coast will be the recipients of this year’s fundraising event. “These funds will assist local children and families to benefit from important programs such as LEAP. LEAP stands for Little Explorers Auditory-Verbal Program and is an educational program run by an early childhood professional, suited to our younger children aged from babies to 5 year old,” Mr McCarthy said.
“It is through events such as this and the generosity of those businesses involved that not only do we receive financial support but as importantly we have the opportunity to lift the profile of our not-for-profit organisation educating the business and local community about the important work we do through our centre and our programs. We are very grateful,” Chris said.
Although the golf teams are sold out, there are just a few seats remaining for the Corporate Sports Luncheon which includes a 3 course lunch, beverages, Klingers Best Dressed Male & Female Prizes, a Live it Travel P&O Cruise valued at over $2500, Raffle travel prizes, auction items and so much more. If you’re interested in attending, contact Debbie Battaglini-Clarke to reserve your spot (0407 168 521). Even if you’re unable to be a part of the event BOQ Maroochydore encourages you to support the Hear and Say Centre wherever you can so that together we can help more children who are deaf to hear, listen and speak.
