Join Australian of the Year 2010, Professor Patrick McGorry, for his presentation at the Business Community Breakfast on 'Community Action for Mental Health' on Thursday 24 June at the Innovation Centre.
Mental illness costs Australian workplaces billions of dollars in lost productivity - a lack of understanding has driven this hidden epidemic.
In Australia, only 34% of people with depression seek medical advice.
The University of Sunshine Coast, the Sunshine Coast Division of General Practice and ConNetica Consulting have joined together with the Mental Health Council of Australia and beyondblue to present the Sunshine Coast's first Mental Health Summit (Thursday 24 - Friday 25 June 2010).
The full program also includes a public forum, master class series and workshops with many of Australia's leading mental health advocates, researchers and practitioners.
The Summit will develop a Statement for Action on Mental Health which will provide a blueprint for action on a regional basis to address the mental health needs of communities. The Summit is being held in the wake of the recent health reforms announced by the Council of Australian Governments.
Further details on the Summit and Registrations can be made by visiting www.focushealth.com.au or by phoning Brenda Leather at Focus Health on 07 5443 2100.
