Leader of the Opposition Deb Frecklington to address business leaders
Leader of the Opposition, Deb Frecklington MP, will present her vision for Queensland and what it means for the Sunshine Coast economy at a business breakfast at the Maroochy RSL on Wednesday, 12 September.
Presented by the Sunshine Coast Business Council, in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance, the breakfast will give local Sunshine Coast businesses and members of the community the opportunity to talk directly with the Leader of the Opposition.
Sunshine Coast Business Council Chair Sandy Zubrinich said the Business Council is very keen to hear, mid-term, the opposition leader’s views on the current state of the Queensland economy and what Ms Frecklington and her party would do differently to improve the state’s performance.
“Queensland ranks sixth in the nation in regard to the state’s economic performance, so the Sunshine Coast Business Council is very interested to hear how the opposition might improve the State’s position, and in particular how the Sunshine Coast might benefit,” Ms Zubrinich said.
“Ms Frecklington is well known for her commitment to regional communities so we look forward to hearing her vision on how our region and others might prosper should her party be successful in challenging the next state election.”
“Local businesses and members of the community are invited to attend to hear Ms Frecklington speak and will then have the opportunity to ask questions relating to the Sunshine Coast economy during the Q&A session.”
“We hope that this will provide real two-way communication and ensure the voice of the Sunshine Coast is heard within the Queensland government.”
Ms Zubrinich said that the proceeds from the event will go towards funding the Sunshine Coast Business Council-led project - Toward A Shared Future: Our Story. Our Values. Our Identity – which draws on a decade of regional research to crystalise the Story of the Sunshine Coast. The Story is being told by independent researcher and story teller, Carol Major.
“Most of the research contributed by councils, universities and the private sector has had significant community engagement from all over the region, ensuring it is a true reflection of the Sunshine Coast,” Ms Zubrinich said.
“The Sunshine Coast community is rightly proud of its diverse history and we are pleased we can bring this history into focus in a way that will go toward explaining who we are as a community today.”
“The Sunshine Coast Business Council is grateful for the more than twenty local businesses, industry groups and stakeholders, both councils, as well as state and federal regional members who joined together to bring the regional story to fruition,” Ms Zubrinich said.
The Sunshine Coast Business Council is the leading regional business advocacy group on the Sunshine Coast. It represents approximately 4,000 businesses through its membership, which includes key national and regional industry groups and their members as well as national and regional businesses.
