Strap on your running shoes for the Bribie Bolt 5k Fun Run 2015
Brennan Park will be humming with the footfall of participants in the 2015 Bribie Bolt Fun Run August 23, which starts at 8am. Serious contenders are already in training to see if they can better the time of the 2013 winner Kyle Hodge-Menzies, who is also out to preserve his glory.
Others are lining up for the fun part of the 5k run, old, young, pram pushers, dress ups, Corporate and community teams, out to show the company flag and support a fantastic Bribie asset, now 92 years old.
Bolt organiser Dianne Wells and immediate president Barry Ayres say it is also an opportunity for all individuals, community organisations and corporates to get involved and show us who you are and where you are from as you are invited to wear your organisations promotional clothing in the fun run. Organisers are hoping to make it the biggest combined community event of the year.
Moreton Bay region’s oldest surf club is a popular family-orientated club with around 200 nippers and over 100 seniors involved in many aspects of the club including; education and prevention, beach management, training, coaching, applying first aid as well as keeping watch over the water and the countless visitors and locals who take pleasure in a sojourn on the island. To continue to do this, the club needs to raise funds to keep up to date and pay for the equipment and facilities.
The Bribie Bolt will start at 8am from Brennan Park, Toorbul St, Bongaree and continues along the picturesque bike track, finishing at the surf club, North St, Woorim where refreshments and awards will take place. Post race the Bribie Old Boys, competitors in days gone by, are keen to serve fruit, drinks and breakfast to participants and observers, while they enjoying a well deserved cool drink and waiting for the presentations.
